WHY DO YOU RUN SODI KARTS VERSUS OTHER BRANDS OR THE “CHAMP” STYLE KARTS?
Let’s just start by saying three names: Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson (2008 NASCAR Nextel Cup Champion) all got their start in go-karts – the same style karts that are raced at Maine Indoor Karting. By being a Premier facility, you get to race the best and fastest karts on the market. Most everyone fits in our karts and you won’t have that claustrophobic feeling that many people complain about when driving an enclosed “cage” style kart. The karts we run on our indoor track are the fastest and safest you will find ANYWHERE.
WHY DO I HAVE TO SIGN A WAIVER AND WATCH A BRIEFING BEFORE I RACE?
This is mandated by the state fire Marshal and our insurance companies to keep you safe and protect us.
SHOULD I BE CONCERNED ABOUT A LOWER PRICED TRACK OR ONE THAT DOESN’T HAVE ME SIGN A WAIVER OR WATCH A SAFETY BRIEFING?
Absolutely. This is a highly regulated industry and because of our safety procedures we have never had a major incident since we opened our track. Other tracks that don’t have you sign a waiver or are lower in cost most likely don’t have the proper amount of insurance or don’t care as much about your safety.
ARE YOU THE ONLY INDOOR PREMIER KARTING FACILITY IN MAINE?
We are. We know of no other facility that has faster karts coupled with a multi-turn semi-technical road course and a printed lap-by-lap timing sheet for each racer after their race. We also feature trained professional management and staff, a full time maintenance department, dedicated track manager and full service race Café. We are Maine’s only Premier Indoor Facility.
WHY DO YOU USE A FIXED BARRIER SYSTEM TO DESIGN YOUR TRACK?
Every NASCAR track in the country has a fixed barrier track and is non-changing due to incidental contact. Our track was designed by a team of professionals to maximize our square footage and give you the driver a challenging, fun road course.
CAN I GET HURT?
Like any major sport there is a chance of being injured. However, we have taken every precaution to limit your chance of injury and have the best safety record in New England. Our staff is well-trained in emergency procedures to properly handle any potential injuries.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN AN OPEN RACING SESSION?
Every Open Racing Session starts with a Safety orientation, covering kart operation and track rules, followed by approximately 15-20 laps of wheel-to-wheel racing. (The number of laps depends on your skill level!)
HOW MANY CAN RACE AT ONE TIME?
For walk-in traffic the maximum number of racers is 8-10. For reserved group events, we can run up to 12 racers at a time.
WHO CAN RACE?
Please see “Adult Racing” or “Youth Racing” for specifics on racing requirements for different ages.
IS FORMULA KART RACING AT MAINE INDOOR KARTING SAFE?
Yes! Our karts are expertly maintained and our tracks strictly managed.
Our karts include roll bars and seat belts.
We provide all drivers with state-of-the-art safety equipment, including race suit, full face helmet and neck brace.
Our track marshals strictly enforce track rules and regulations.
While this is real racing and there are inherent risks, we minimize the possibility of injury by paying close attention to safety in our racing facilities.
SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT THE AIR I BREATHE WHILE RACING?
Not at Maine Indoor Karting. We don’t want you leaving our racing facility light-headed due to Carbon Monoxide inhalation. Maine Indoor Karting employs a state of the art air ventilation system capable of completely exchanging the air every 10 minutes limiting carbon monoxide in the air. You can breathe easy while racing at Maine Indoor Karting.
IS THERE TRAINING?
Before racing, every driver must attend a safety briefing 15 minutes prior to his or her first race of the day. Drivers are instructed on proper kart operation and the rules and regulations of safe racing.
We also offer Professional Driving Instruction, for those who want to learn to drive better and faster. Classes are limited to 6 students, and include both an instructional class and two heats of competitive on-track instruction.
Classes are forming all the time; increase your skill and your thrills. Call Maine Indoor Karting at 1-888-2-GOKART, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to enroll.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
You should wear comfortable clothing when you come to race (casual pants are recommended). We provide racing suits, helmets and neck braces. Open-toe shoes are not permitted while racing.
